An opposite from France will be powering PLDT Home Fibr in the upcoming 2020 Philippine SuperLiga (PSL) Grand Prix.
French women’s volleyball national team spiker Maeve Orle will be the Power Hitters’ foreign reinforcement when they march to the import-laden war this month.
Orle has already arrived in the country last Tuesday and is tipped to hit the ground running for the reigning bronze medalists.
Expectations are high for Orle.
The 28-year old hitter is touted to carry the scoring cudgels for PLDT following the departure of Gretchel Soltones, Jerilli Malabanan and Jasmine Nabor.
Soltones and Malabanan both transfered to PetroGazz in the rival league as Nabor joined the newly-minted Chery Tiggo, leaving Aiko Urdas, Kath Villegas and Alyssa Eroa to hold the fort.
Orle has played for three countries since the start of her professional career in 2008.
The 6-foot spiker suited up for various French clubs from 2008 to 2015, which included powerhouse Le Cannet and ASPTT Mulhouse.
She then took her talent to UVT Agroland Timisoara of Romania and Finland’s Hämeenlinnan Lentopallokerho for the 2018-2019 season before PLDT tapped her for this season.
Orle joins a talented pool of imports composed of Petron’s Kath Bell, F2 Logistics’ Lindsay Stalzer, Tatjana Bokan of Cherry Tiggo, Elizabeth Vicet Campos of Generika Ayala, Marinerang Pilipina’s Hana Cutura and Shainah Joseph of Sta. Lucia.
Stalzer, Bell, Bokan, Campos, Cutura and Joseph have all landed in the country ahead of the tournament which fires off later this month.
