Known as one of the best players today, Petron Blaze Spiker Aiza Maizo couldn’t help but gush about the return of the first PSL MVP Venus Bernal.
Bernal was known for her court smarts, power and her famous ‘butterfly approach’ back when she was still donning the UST jersey.
Fortunately for Maizo, she was able to see and experience what it was like to play with the former league MVP.
“Siyempre idol ko yang si Queen V. Siyempre masaya din na bumalik ulit siya, ang first MVP ng PSL,” she told FOX Sports.
Back in the UAAP Season 68, Maizo was one of the rookies for UST. Remembering what it was like entering UST’s gym for the first time, Maizo got starstruck seeing Queen V and of course, Ging Balse.
Double B e,” she shared.
She also recalled how much she would have wanted to play with the second six rather than be put in the first six for her to compete against her idols. It was not like she didn’t want to be with them, it’s just that she wanted to be better so she’d rather face them on the other side of the court.
Kailangan ko makapuntos sa kanila,” said the ever competitive Maizo.
Maizo last played with Bernal back in Season 69 where they led UST to the title. She shared that it was one of the best memories she had with the former Queen Tigress.
“Yung season 69 namin.
Now playing for different teams in the PSL GrandPrix, Maizo will now have to face her long-time idol as she and Petron will gut it out against the Cignal HD Spikers this Saturday.
Excited about their face-off, Maizo will definitely make sure that she will be able to help her team get their fourth win against the HD Spikers.
– By Joyce Palad
