Former Ateneo Lady Eagle’s middle blocker Bea de Leon is now teammates with former collegiate nemesis Jaja Santiago.
As she made her debut with the Foton Lady Tornadoes, De Leon formally entered pact with Santiago as they teamed up to solidify Foton’s net defense.
For this, De Leon feels relieved and excited.
“I’m very happy because I don’t have to block her [Jaja Santiago],” said the 5-foot-11 standout from Katipunan, who tallied 8 points off of quick attacks and service aces in a losing effort against F2 Logistics.

De Leon also made mention the difference of the coaching style between her college mentor Tai Bundit and her pro league coach Rommel Abella.
She said while there are differences to the approach of the two coaches, both are equally good.
“Coach Ja is more calm and very encouraging to all of us. He points out the wrongs but also points out the good. But they’re both very good coaches,” she said.

De Leon joined the starting lineup during the first and third sets of the match with other former National University (NU) Lady Bulldogs Dindin Santiago-Manabat, Ivy Perez, Jen Reyes, and Mina Aganon.
The Tornadoes are set to play against the Generika-Ayala Lifesavers at the Filoil Flying V Center Arena on June 26.
