Old but still gold.
Veteran hitter Mary Jean Balse led the charge as the Smart Giga Hitters eked out a four-set victory, 25-21, 26-24, 23-25, 25-18, against the Cocolife Asset Managers during the crucial preliminary round of the 2018 Philippine Superliga Invitational Conference Thursday at the FilOil Flying V Arena in San Juan.
Balse, 35, played her best game in years as she uncorked nine kills, three blocks and three aces for 15 markers to steer Smart back to the winning column after their straight set beating from Cignal HD Spikers.
The former UST stalwart, who played as open hitter, was not only effective in producing much needed points but was also efficient in leadership as she guided Smart, composed of young UST hitters, to a 2-1 card.
Veteran savvy from Ging Balse-Pabayo.🙌🏼
