Stephanie Niemer announces return for Grand Prix 2019

Philippine Superliga Grand Prix 2016 first best open spiker Stephanie Niemer is set to return to the Philippines for an unfinished business.

In an Instagram post, the American import announced that she will return to the country in January to play for Petron in the 2019 Grand Prix edition of the tournament.

“In January, I’ll make my way back to the Philippines to play for #Petron 💪🏽I’m excited to get back to playing in front of the best fans with some of my favorites! Same country, same team, different result 🙏🏽🏆

But while this could mean celebration for Filipino fans, who last saw Niemer play in the country during the 2016 FIVB Women’s Club World Championship, this could also be the last time they will see the 29 year-old play professionally as Niemer also bares that this stint will be her “swan song.”

“When it comes to volleyball, I’m not sure what my word means these days, but I believe it’s time for the #swansong,” Niemer said.

Back in the 2016 Grand Prix, Niemer left the country sans the championship crown as Petron got foiled by the Lindsay Stalzer and Ariel Usher-led Foton Tornadoes in the best-of-three finals round.

Will she finally take home the championship with Petron this time?
