F2’s Morente on Generika upset: ‘Na-rattle kami’

PSL-Morente

Tomorrow’s going to be a new day for the F2 Logistics Cargo Movers.

The Cargo Movers suffered a huge upset in the tournament as they surrendered to an upstart Generika-Ayala Lifesavers in four sets, 25-19, 22-25, 16-25, 26-28, earlier in the 2018 PSL All Filipino Conference at the Filoil Flying V Centre.

While the Cargo Movers cruised their way in the opening set, they eventually struggled to find their rhythm as the Lifesavers finally got their defense going and dominated in the succeeding sets.

Headlining for the Cargo Movers’ losing effort was Michelle Morente, who led her team with 14 points, including 12 attacks and two blocks.

Morente said there was pressure to deliver in today’s game as she filled in for the injured Kim Dy, one of the team’s leading scorers.

“Medyo na-pressure ako, kasi mataas yung expectation ni Coach Ramil,” Morente said. “You know, it’s part of the game e, kailangan kong laurin yung game ko, kailangan kong gawin yung trabaho ko sa loob ng court.”

The upset became F2 Logistics’ second straight loss in the tournament as the Petron Blaze Spikers stained their previously perfect record last Saturday.

Morente credited the Lifesavers in their first victory of the tournament, stating today’s game was a case of the other team wanting to win more and them failing to live up to their winning tradition.

“Feeling ko mas nagustuhan ng Generika Manalo, and na-rattle kami in some of the sets,” Morente said. “I guess may part sa amin na nagkulang kami.”

According to Morente, the team looked at their shortcomings in a positive note, seeking to maintain a positive outlook going into their next games.

“We just said na tomorrow’s going to be a new day, tomorrow’s a new day to improve ourselves,” Morente said. “Mag-start kami sa mga nakita naming mistakes kanina, and then pag-aralan pa namin yung kalaban namin”.
