A sigh of relief for all volleyball fans, especially for the Foton Tornadoes Blue Energy as Arianne Layug has only suffered a sprained left knee.

Sources inside the team confirmed this development to FOX Sports Philippines and said the open spiker is already recuperating from the injury.

According to assistant head coach Brian Esquibel, meanwhile, Layug is “fine” and “God is good” when asked of the status of Layug.

Layug, who is having a splendid breakout season since her departure from De La Salle University’s nest, injured her left knee midway the get go set of their game against Smart last Thursday.

Upon landing she went down holding on to her left leg and was carried off through a stretcher. She still went out to support her teammates during the second set, but was brought to Cardinal Santos in San Juan for X-ray and MRI which came out negative.

As good as their start this conference, it may be a possibility that Layug could miss some of the games, but with a talented roster, for sure Coach Aaron Velez will find the right mix to cover for her absence.
