For the newly-retooled Smart Giga Hitters, achieving victories is a premium in order to prove formidability in the Philippine Superliga (PSL).
The Giga Hitters finally stopped their two-game slump after surviving the Cocolife Asset Managers in five sets, 25-16, 18-25, 25-20, 23-25, 15-11, today in the 2018 PSL All Filipino Conference at the Filoil Flying V Centre.
While Cocolife managed to extend the game to a decider, Smart regained focus and led midway into the set, ultimately taking the match.

Setter Jasmine Nabor, who finished the game with seven points and 24 excellent sets, said their two-game losing streak became inspiration for their win today, while admitting their game needed some work.
“Feel ko mabigat pa rin sa amin yung dalawang magkasunod na talo namin,” Nabor said. “Pero kailangan pa naming mag-improve sa communication and composure namin.”
For Nabor, who was part of the Philippine national team which competed in the 2018 AVC Asian Cup in Thailand, the Giga Hitters need to stay consistent and develop maturity especially in extended games.
“Pag maganda yung sinimulan namin, kailangan matapos din namin nang maganda,” said Nabor. “Ganun kasi yung laging nangyayari sa amin, na maganda yung first set, tas pangit yung kasunod.”
With most of the Giga Hitters new to the PSL’s competitive atmosphere, Nabor stressed out the importance of going big in every game to make their mark as forces to be reckoned with in the league.
“Siyempre bilang mga baguhan, kailangan may mapatunayan kami,” Nabor said. “Di mo rin maiiwasan na may mga bashers, so nagiging motivation namin ‘yon na kailangang may mapatunayan kami.”
