Generika Ayala’s preparation for the highly-anticipated Philippine Superliga (PSL) Grand Prix 2019 can now go into overdrive with the arrival of Brazilian wing spiker Nikolle Del Rio earlier today.
The 35-year old officially set foot in the Philippines Wednesday afternoon ahead of the import-laden conference, which kicks off less than two weeks from now.
The 6-foot outside hitter will be replacing Cuban hitter Lisbet Arredondo Reyes, who will no longer campaign for the Lifesavers after getting barred from playing in the country due to visa issues.
She will be pairing up with Azerbaijan national team member and middle blocker Kseniya Kocyigit, who was one of the first few imports to flew in last month.
With both of their imports already in town, expect the one-time PSL champions to prep in full swing.

Bringing in a rather hefty portfolio of her vast international experience having played in Italy, Turkey, Belgium, Greece and Romania, Del Rio is tipped to carry the offensive cudgels for Generika.
She will be working alongside local players Patty Orendain, Riri Meneses, Angeli Araneta, May Macatuno and Fiola Ceballos as Generika looks to end a four-year title drought.
The Lifesavers’ mettle will be tested early as they are set to open their campaign against Sta. Lucia on February 16 at the Ynares Sports Complex.
Del Rio is the third Brazilian to play in the Philippines following Erica Adachi and Rupia Inck’s stint with Petron in 2014 and 2015.
