F2 Logistics shows poise to sweep Cignal, caps prelims as no. 2

F2 Logistics showed championship poise down the stretch to resist Cignal for another straight-set victory, 25-19, 25-20, 26-24, during their final preliminary outing in the Philippine Superliga (PSL) Grand Prix 2019, Thursday at the FilOil Flying V Arena.

The Cargo Movers displayed composure to come back from deficits and turn back the HD Spikers to end their prelims campaign on a strong fashion.

F2 Logistics wrapped up the classification round with a second-best 11-3 record while Cignal finished with 7-7 slate to place themselves at no. 4 heading into the quarterfinals.

Lindsay Stalzer, MJ Perez, and Ara Galang each had 13 hits apiece as the Ramil de Jesus-mentored squad completed a preliminary round sweep of Cignal.

F2 Logistics will clash with Foton while Cignal faces United Volleyball Club in the playoffs. Both teams with a twice-to-beat advantage.

Down 13-17 in the first set, F2 Logistics banked on their net defense to score the next 12 points, four of those from blocks of Aby Marano and Majoy Baron, and steal the set as Cignal had a late spur of errors.

It was the same story in the second set as the HD Spikers started strong before the Cargo Movers stole the driver’s seat for a 22-15 lead and never looked back.

Cignal kept the fight alive in the tight-knit third set as they arrived at set point first off an ace from Anastacia Artameva.

Perez came through with back-to-back off-the-block kills to give the lead to F2 Logistics before an ace from Galang sealed the win.

Artameva scored team-high 19 hits off 14 spikes, four blocks and an ace for Cignal. Erica Wilson and Rachel Ann Daquis added 13 and 12, respectively, on a losing effort.

Cignal had the edge in attacks, 41-32, but F2 Logistics held the upper hand in blocks and services as they racked up 10 blocks and six aces compared to the losing team’s five and two, respectively.
