She may have ended her collegiate career in a rather frustrating fashion, but Sisi Rondina has something to celebrate and be proud of – being named as the sole female Athlete of the year at the end of the UAAP Season 81.
In the closing and awarding ceremonies held at the Mall of Asia Arena, UAAP board awarded two athletes each from the junior’s and senior’s categories as Athletes of the Year.
Three of these were male athletes from the Ateneo de Manila University (ADMU) and Rondina from the University of Sto. Tomas (UST).
Olympian Jessie King Lacuna bagged the award for the collegiate individual sports for his meritorious achievement in leading the blue school to an unprecedented five swimming titles while individually being named as the most valuable player four times.
The high-flying spiker from Cebu was hailed as Athlete of the Year for the team sports category.
Completing the roster of awardees from the junior division are sensational baller Kai Sotto for the team sports and swimmer Philip Joaquin Santos for individual sports.
Rondina, meanwhile, posted on her Instagram that she is dedicating this award for her alma mater.
The 22-year-old open hitter has been instrumental for the Golden Tigresses’ impeccable run this season, where they finished as the bridesmaid of eventual champions Ateneo Lady Eagles.
