UE’s senior spiker Shaya Adorador said she offered their victory against Adamson University for their families who continuously supported them through wins or losses.
“Basta ‘yung inspiration ko na lang is ‘yung family namin na laging nanonood as in ‘yung time nila para i-spend lang ‘yung isang buong araw para lang manood kami, talo man o panalo,” said Adorador, who scored 11 points in their match.
With the win, the Recto-based squad snapped their six-game losing skid of the season and their 13th overall since Season 79.
But the victory came even sweeter as their victim Adamson just came from a huge upset against two-time defending champion De La Salle University.
The Lady Falcons helped the Lady Warriors to take the victory as they gave 52 points on errors alone while the Lady Spikers had 31.
The San Marcelino-based crew fielded in a strange starting six, sitting most of their usual starters like Chiara Permentilla and Jema Galanza, to which the Lady Warriors took advantage of.
When asked if she felt insulted that Adamson took them lightly and fielded in second stringers, Adorador said she was not.
“Not really. Talagang inisip lang namin laruin namin ‘yung laro namin kanina,” she said.
She added that what ran through her mind during that time was to get the victory in order for their sacrifices to bear fruit.
Adorador also noted that no team should be taken lightly this season given the improvement in each of the school’s volleyball program.
“Walang team na mamaliitin talaga kasi once minaliit mo ‘yan doon lalabas ‘yung laro nung isang team talaga,” she said.
