Insights: NU Lady Bulldogs end losing streak

The National University Lady Bulldogs put an end to its six-game slump after they clamped down UE Lady Warriors in straight sets, 26-24, 26-24, 25-20, this afternoon at the San Juan Arena.

Here are the takeaways from the match:

LEADING THE PACK – Jaja Santiago showed no signs of slowing down as she delivered another 22-point performance – 18 from attacks , three from blocks and one from service ace.

SUPPORT IS ON – Jaja finally received the much needed support from her teammates as Risa Sato finished with 13 points while Roselyn Doria contributed 9.

GETTING THERE – With the win, NU has secured at least a playoff spot for the last semifinals seat.

NOT ENOUGH STEAM – The challenge given by UE was not enough as they were stopped by NU’s defense with 9 blocks compared to their measly 2 rejections.

USUAL SUSPECTS – Kath Arado registered 30 digs and 15 receptions while Shaya Adorador and Meanne Mendrez scored in double digit.

LOSSES PILING UP – UE was already out of contention for the playoffs, but things seem to be on a downward spiral as they have suffered their fifth straight loss in the second round.
