Ateneo’s only loss so far in the elimination rounds came from perennial archrival La Salle after they got beaten by the latter in their debut game on February 17.
Since then, the Lady Eagles zoomed to their 10th consecutive victories, edging out one team after the other to top the eight competing schools.
This may be a testament of how Ateneo improved moving into the crucial stretch of the season, but one thing they haven’t achieved yet is to get back at their first-round tormentors.
They, however, have a chance to avenge their sorry loss against La Salle as they face the same team on Saturday at the SMART Araneta Coliseum.

For Ateneo’s senior Kat Tolentino, their team’s significant improvement could play a factor when they face La Salle anew.
“I think we’ve learned a lot in the first round. We learned how to play better as a team. We learned how to get rid of those first-game jitters,” she said.
The opposite hitter, who is averaging 15.1 points in 11 games, vows that the team will go all-out in time for the rematch.
“I think from our first game to now, our team has improved so much so I expect a good game next Saturday. And I think, we will just give it our all and show how much we improved this season,” Tolentino shared.
In their first-round meeting, Tolentino was the lone bright spot for Ateneo as she finished with 16 points off 13 attacks, two blocks, and an ace.
DLSU dominated the match in terms of attacking (40-28) and serving (15-7) while Ateneo had a better net defense (8-4).
